Bio:
Hardy Strid (1921–2012) was a Swedish painter, graphic artist and experimental visual artist. He studied at Valand Art School in Gothenburg under Endre Nemes from 1948 to 1952 and worked throughout his career with painting, collage, assemblage, printmaking and objects. During the 1960s he became associated with the avant-garde Situationist milieu surrounding Drakabygget. His work developed from early Surrealist and abstract influences toward a distinctive visual language characterized by fragmentation, strong outlines and contrasting areas of colour. In his later decades, his imagery often became increasingly simplified and concentrated, with an emphasis on strong, clear colours.
