As a ceramicist, Søren Kongstrand was self-taught. In 1907 he began to experiment with ceramic, which he as a rich businessman had the opportunity to pay for himself.
In 1911 he made his debut at the Artists' Autumn Exhibition.
SK was the wizard who worked with a material he sometimes had difficulty taming, but which may have resulted in works that radiate a very special strength. It was a goal for SK to make the glaze look like the strength of nature, among other things. hoarfrost, gull eggs and the like.
Kongstrand became especially famous for his luster glazes.
