In 1987, Bing & Grondahl was merged with the Royal Porcelain Factory under the name Royal Copenhagen. Royal Copenhagen is the most important Danish manufacturer of porcelain products and was founded in Copenhagen in 1775. It is recognized by its factory mark, the three wavy. At the Exposition Universelle (1889) in Paris, Royal Copenhagen won the Grand Prix, giving it international exposure.
