Bio:
Josef Etienne van Wonterghem was a Danish ceramic artist who began working with ceramics in the 1950s and later established his own workshop in Humlum. He is particularly known for his stoneware panels, which he began producing in 1965. These works were typically constructed from square stoneware tiles decorated with strong glaze colours and combined abstract and figurative forms. His ceramic reliefs show a clear affinity with the spontaneous and expressive visual language of CoBrA.
