Large and impressive Danish private collection (Total of 42 unique vases, bowls, figurines, etc.) Soren Kongstrand 1872-1951) and Jens Petersen (1890-1956) Polar bear in bronze after a model of a polar bear by Soren Kongstrand, unsigned. Measuring 15 x 10 cm. In perfect condition. The collection was exhibited in the autumn of 2003 in Esbjerg Museum, "Soren Kongstrand & Jens Petersen". Soren Kongstrand was an autodidact potter. In 1907 he began to experiment with ceramic, attempts that he as a rich businessman had the opportunity to pay for. In 1911 he made his debut at the Fall Exhibition. SK was a magician who worked with a material he sometimes found difficult to tame, but perhaps therefore resulting in works that exudes a particular strength. It was a goal for SK to get the glaze to resemble nature's strength, eg. rime frost, gull eggs and the like. Kongstrand was especially famous for his luster glazes.
