Born in Reykjavík, he studied at the Icelandic College of Arts and Crafts, the Royal Danish Academy in Copenhagen, and further in Oslo, Rome, Florence, and Munich. From 1956–1996 he taught printmaking at the Icelandic Academy of Arts, pioneering the medium in Iceland, and also wrote as an art critic for Morgunblaðið.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eÁsgeirsson’s work spans painting, geometric abstraction, printmaking, and assemblage. He exhibited widely in Iceland and abroad, with major retrospectives at Kjarvalsstaðir, including “Visual Symphony – 60 Years of Art”.
