He had previously trained as an apprentice and worked as a designer in Markaryd and Alingsås before establishing his own pottery studio in Motala.
The production included turned and decorative ceramics—bowls, vases, sculptures, reliefs, and wall-mounted lamps—often finished with warm brown, orange, and vibrant red glazes, which became the studio’s signature.
Around 1990, the workshop was taken over by his daughter Stina Norrman, who ran it until its closure around the year 2000.
Today, Norrman ceramics is appreciated for its retro charm and distinctive glazing. Often considered underrated on the second-hand market, it enjoys a dedicated following among collectors and fans of mid-century Scandinavian design.
