He began as a decorator and quickly rose to become a central figure in Swedish stoneware art. Stålhane is especially recognized for his elegant forms and experimental glazes, often blending function and sculpture. Beyond his work at Rörstrand, he later founded his own studio, Designhuset in Lidköping.
